The winters are very cold up north in the “nosebleed seats” of New York. So quickly turn to things that warm you up, meat, potatoes, whisky and cuddling. Curtis is a big fan of the chain, “casual dining” restaurants and so this was my attempt to keep up with their corporate culinary skills. I think I did pretty well, and I think he would agree. He also helped out a lot, he made the onions, and they were so good he even ate them, and the boy hates onions.
Note: this recipe is more fun when you do shots while cooking.
Jack Daniels BBQ Burgers
Prep Time 30 Minutes
2lbs Lean Hamburger Meat
Thick Sliced Pepper Jack Cheese 4 slices
1/2 cup crisp bacon cooked and chopped
1/2 onion sauteed with garlic and butter til soft
1 tbsp parsley
1 tsp basil
garlic to taste
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
BBQ sauce of your choice
1 tbsp Jack Daniels
Mix together ground beef, parsley, basil, garlic, egg and salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl until well blended. Shape patties to your pleasure, I like round and normous.
While waiting cook off your bacon and make your onions
In a large skillet cook your burgers. Note that the more lean the beef is the less it will cook down. We learned the hard way and had “mondo” burgers (see Good Burger with Kenan and Kel) for dinner but no one complained. Cover them so that they cook through for about 10-15 minutes turning over to avoid burning over medium high heat.
While they are cooking put bbq sauce of your choice in a sautee pan and add Jack Daniels so the flavors blend and some of the alcohol cooks out.
Top the patties with sauce, sauteed onions, cheese. Recover to melt, when cheese is melted top with a ton of bacon. SERVED.
Delicious, drink beer with it.
Dancing while buzzed from the Jack Daniels in the kitchen late at night after is also highly suggested.
