BBV Girl, We’ve Got to Do Something With Your Look

20 Apr

Well, BBV has once again awoken from it’s coma.
Nothing new.

However I am going to start expanding our topics here, because being a happy, unrestrained, life force in the world isn’t only limited to cooking delicious food. Plus, who, for the love of God, needs another food blog. Not me. Adapt or die.

Things I would like to add:
-Human interest stories: inspiration from people I know, strangers and people who take life to a new level.
-Business and marketing strategies: building repertoire in the world so that we can financially fuel our desire for everything sparkly.
-Expanded book reviews; go beyond the kitchen Alissa, you can do it.
-Product reviews: Clothing, shoes, purses, men’s wear, jewelry and accessories. Tech gear, workout clothes.
-Current events
-Things that make me happy.

Here’s the deal:
I feel like there is great potential within the realm of this little digital box. I no longer wish to narrow it’s potential and I hope to expand it. Not only with content but with other writers and other voices.

A Bon Vivant is defined as someone who lives luxuriously and enjoys good food and drink.
In this world we have lots of luxury. We have the luxury of having a roof over our head, The luxury of choosing our own job. The luxury for women to walk freely and (almost) as equally as men. This is a life style of living life to the fullest. Giving is a luxury, working hard is a luxury, taking care of the world we have been given is a luxury. Are we together on this? Life is about taking the world on, breaking down walls, and reshaping beauty and experience. I would like to see this blog as part of that.

I’m so ashamed!

20 Apr

It has been over a year since I have updated this little child of mine. How embarrassing! I will say that if you look at the last post of my new job announcement in February of last year you would think that with a new job like that the doors would open wide! Cooking under an experienced and successful chef? Learning all sort of new things? Engaged and moving on to New York and starting life all over?! Think again Cinderella! Just because you found your prince doesn’t mean you get to stop shaving your legs.

In the last year I have had 5, FIVE jobs.
1. Sous Chef
-Laid off
2. Hospital Dietary Aide
-Quit due to HORRIBLE coworkers
3. Bartender and Cook at a Country Club
-That was pretty great but I was so lonely and homesick I thought I was going to die. And I really hate bartending
4. Retail Sales
-Quit because I was over scheduled with College courses and ANOTHER job
5. Childcare and cooking
-Quit due to the fact that no matter how passionate you can be about your job, people will always try to hold you down.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM.
I loved everything I did. Absolutely every job no matter how high my blood pressure got (Assistant Chef) or how bad the gossip got (Hospital) or how hard I worked and being continually passed by for promotion (Child Care) I was in love. I love people, I love hard work. But I will absolutely not be held under water by management. I smell entrepreneurship…

I am going to try to start a couple little businesses while I chart the waters for a new job that has the hours I need while I go back to school. I will be tracking this on my website and will have other websites available through BonBonVivant.

Good Morning

11 Feb

Hi everyone!
I have a new job and i’m cooking at a fabulous little restaurant called Cafe Lazio in Glens Falls. If you’re in the area I suggest you come and visit. Here’s the site: I suggest you read about the chef, because he’s only wonderful. The food is honest, not overthought or overdone and incredibly affordable. The quality you’re getting for the price is second to none. It’s delicious. I’m not just saying this either. The food that comes out of this kitchen is beautiful. Please stop by or visit the site.

Have a tasty day!

iPhone App of the Week! BigOven.com

4 Feb

I’m obsessed with this.
This free application allows you to look up well written and creative recipes that don’t include a lot of the fancy pants ingredients from epicurious, and eliminates the hodgepodge mess of All Recipes. Don’t get me wrong, Epicurious and All Recipes have their time and place. However, for everyday usage and day in and day out cooking I have found this application to be the most, ahem, applicable.

An Update

2 Feb

I have been a wreck lately trying to get everything together and settled up here in the “nose bleed seats” of New York. Please be patient and the site will be up and running and more beautiful then before within the next week. I appreciate everyone who stops by. I will still be updating my twitter, because I am now an addict.
